Stop Telling Us White Privilege is a Lie

I cannot believe what we all just witnessed yet I am not at all surprised. This “American Experiment” is a failure. A country where “all men are created equal” has always been a myth. It has never existed. Everyone knows this to be true, just some will not accept it.

Black people have never been free. Any single time a black person has sniffed free air or attempted to sniff free air, in America, they have been punished, usually severely. Non-white males are free as long as they stay in their place. A woman attempts to rise out of her place, she is attacked and vilified. A black man tries to rise out of his place, he is hanged/lynched/shot/thrown in jail for the rest of his life. A black woman tries to rise out of her place, see above, you get my point. The bottom line in all of this is that unless you are a white male, you don’t actually have freedom here.

This was on full display for the whole world to watch on January 6, 2021. A very large mob of mostly white people, mostly male, were politely ushered onto the Capitol grounds and escorted into the building to destroy democracy, then nicely escorted right back outside, all because they didn’t get their way. Full stop.

We all know what would have happened if that was a crowd of black people or Native Americans or Latinx or Muslims. They would have been shot and killed before they got within a mile of the Capitol. It can no longer be denied. A white man walked out of the House Chamber carrying a lectern, he has been identified all over social media, and, as far as I know, he has not been arrested. Another white man walked out of Speaker Pelosi’s office with a piece of her mail, posted a photo of himself with it on Facebook, was interviewed by his local Arkansas news station, and, as far as I know, has yet to be arrested. Instead, the FBI is on social media asking for help identifying people. This is America.

We watched George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Philando Castile, Mike Brown, and many other black men murdered by police repeatedly on television, yet no network will show the video of the white woman that was shot and killed because it is too disturbing. This is America.

I’ve seen many people lamenting the fact that there are two Americas. There are not two Americas. There is only one America ruled by White Supremacy. This is America. This IS who we are.
